Quarashi’s Last Ever Show – Nasa, July 16th. 2011 – Vibe Review

The club-stamps are fading from our hands but the memories we made are cementing themselves, getting ready to be relived again and again for years to come.

The Last ever Quarashi show… who would have thought it would come to this? So many of us believed we had already missed our last chance to see them live and to us this comeback was an amazing gift and a surreal experience.

We won’t waste too many words on describing every song or every detail, suffice to say that this concert is something that will stay in our memories as the chill-inducing, awe-inspiring event that it was for however long our memories will hold.

Flashbacks from this concert include the masses of people standing with baited breath, the roar of Quarashi’s public demanding their presence on stage, which albeit slightly delayed was welcomed with incredible volumes of adoring screams, grasping hands and general mass-excitement. Sweaty towels on stage, a crowd-surfing Steini and a shirtless-pants-less Sölvi, it was all there: Bottled up awesome for your enjoyment.

Quarashi was there and that was all anyone cared about. Those people who came to both shows at Nasa didn’t even care at all that the set-list hadn’t changed because it was good and the show was monumental, something to be forever remembered and fondly recounted to their grandchildren.

After the show people hung around, trying to grab any souvenir from the stage that they could, someone asked for an empty water bottle to be thrown to them from the stage by the man who was cleaning it, others grabbed some of the used towels…it was a tomb raid and yes, we took part in it too.

Now that the dust has settled after the uproar, the revolutionary spirit has been quelled a bit and we’re all slowly regaining our sanity, bouncing back from the crash that comes after the high we can truly begin to process this amazing journey that being a Quarashi fan has been and try and conceive of the fact that it is now over.

But no, saying that it’s over is really an over-simplification, enjoying their music is not something that ends after they cease making it. Quarashi is something that will stay with us, the fans, for all our lives like all great bands that make real, living and good music.

Once again, for the last time (we promise) thank you Quarashi from the bottom of our hearts. It’s been a wild ride.
