An Interview With Steini

 

 

Steinar Fjeldsted or Steini as most of us Quarashi fans know him is far from being done with music even though Quarashi is no more.

We got to ask him a few questions about his new solo project which he’s been working on in his new home, an old Icelandic farm in the south of Iceland.

 

 

How are you enjoying your new place? Do you prefer it to living in the city?

I love my new place its great it has a huge garden which I love and I set up a studio there so I’m really happy.
Aahhh the fresh air. But I also love the city but I got bored of Reykjavik for now at least.

 

 

You’re working on an album at your new place, how is that going and when
do you see it being released?

 

It’s going great and a lot of fun thing are happening with the music, its taking some wild turns.

Soon I will drop the first single which is called at the moment Cigarettes. Hopefully the album will be
released next summer or fall but I will drop a song here and there until then

 

 

You’ve had a few artist names through the years, what name will this album
be released under and do you have a name for the album yet?

 

Yeah I have had a few artists names but for this one I think I will go for my real name: Steinar Fjeldsted.
Because I see this album as my first real solo project and I’m really happy with the tunes. I have some names for
the album but still just in my mind, do you have an idea, hehe??

 

 

You mentioned that you are releasing a single, what is it called and when will it drop?

 

It’s called Cigarettes and hopefully will drop in two weeks. CHEEEEECK IT YAAALL. I will let you know.

 

 

How long have you been working on your own music? Can you tell us a bit about
what kind of music you are making now?

 

Well I have been making my own music since I was about 11 years old. First on amiga 500 and a tv screen.

And I have always been in the electronic, ambient music scene, Warp records and all that and of course
the hip hop stuff too so I try to put that together and make my own blend of music. This album will be fresh,
fun and with some tasty lyrics. I would call it Electro indie hip hop.

 

 

Do you know yet where your album will be available for sale?  And will we be seeing
you perform again soon ?

 

It will be for sale online and in all record stores in Iceland and hopefully some other countries but I don’t know for
now so I will keep you updated. And yes I want to perform soon

 

 

What’s going to come next for you after you release this album?

 

Play the music where ever I can, be happy and make more music
